1 lb (450 g) ground beef 1 onion, diced 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 can (15 oz / 425 g) black beans, drained and rinsed 1 can (14.5 oz / 411 g) crushed tomatoes 1 red bell pepper, chopped 1 tbsp (15 ml) cayenne pepper 2 tsp (10 ml) smoked paprika Salt and pepper to taste
1. In a large saucepan, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat. 2. Add the diced onion, garlic, and red bell pepper to the beef. Cook until the vegetables are softened. 3. Mix in the black beans, crushed tomatoes, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well. 4. Cover and simmer on low heat for 45-60 minutes to allow the flavors to develop, stirring occasionally.
